Gesa Beckhaus, born 1982, studied law at Bucerius Law School in Hamburg as well as in Buenos Aires as a holder of a scholarship of the German Academic Foundation. In 2007, she passed the first state exam. She completed her legal training in Hamburg with stages at the ICC Court of Arbitration (Paris) and at the international law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. Gesa Beckhaus also worked as a research associate at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law. After her second state exam in 2011, she earned a Master of Laws degree from New York University. In 2012, she obtained her doctorate from Bucerius Law School. Gesa Beckhaus is a certified commercial mediator (cvm).
After three years as a candidate notary in Hamburg, Gesa Beckhaus was appointed notary in 2015. Gesa Beckhaus is a member of the advisory board of the foundation BürgerStiftung Hamburg and since 2018 a member of the Permanent Deputation of the Association of German Jurists (Deutscher Juristentag). She is married and has two children. Her main focus is real estate law as well as corporate law including notarial assistance with complex and cross-border transactions.
