Prof. Dr. jur. Peter Rawert

Peter Rawert, born 1959, passed the first state examination in 1983 after studying law at the Universities of Gießen, Mainz, Kiel and Surrey (GB). In 1984 he became Master of Laws (University of Exeter/GB). In 1985 he was a visiting researcher for several months at Harvard University (USA). After completing the second state examination in the year 1988 Peter Rawert was awarded his doctorate on the basis of a thesis on the law of foundations at University of Kiel. Immediately after this he started his professional career as a lawyer in Frankfurt/M. In 1994 he became a notary in Hamburg. Since 1999 he has been an honorary professor at University of Kiel and since 2002 visiting lecturer at Bucerius Law School, Hamburg.

His professional and scientific focal points are based on corporate, real estate, inheritance and foundation law. In addition he performs philantrophic work for several foundations – amongst others as the chairman of the board of trustees of the foundation F. C. Gundlach. He is a member of the Permanent Deputation of the Association of German Jurists.

Peter Rawert is married with two children. He is an amateur magician and regularly publishes articles on the history of magic.
